This thesis, as part of a larger study, delves into the framework of science-based
entrepreneurship, utilizing a case study approach with a primary focus on the Finnish
company Valio. Through a comparative analysis between Valio and the modern company
Solar Foods, the research explores key aspects of science-driven entrepreneurial practices,
innovation strategies, and market positioning. While Solar Foods is not the central focus, its
inclusion serves as a valuable reference point, allowing for a nuanced examination of distinct
entrepreneurial models within the context of the evolving food industry. The findings
contribute to a deeper understanding of science-based entrepreneurship and provide insights
that can inform strategic decisions for companies navigating the intersection of science,
technology, and entrepreneurship.
