Portfolio holdings operating in various industries face complexities when establishing overarching
sustainability objectives. This field lab starts with a case study about a Portuguese holding
company, BEL Group, implementing a sustainability strategy. Following teaching note applies the
Resource-Based-View to explore the organization ‘s key competencies for achieving competitive
advantage considering sustainability. The framework enables to strategically prioritizing SDGs
aligned with the organization’s core competencies. Lastly, the evaluation report identifies best
practices in sustainability reporting from leading sustainability companies and derives tailored
recommendations for BEL Group.
