This paper examines the role of Project Management (PM) in the evolution of a start-up.
Given the different nature of these two subjects, their complementarity is going to be assessed with the proposal of the ‘lean start-up’ process, a method of action developed by Eric Ries and introduced in his book ‘The Lean Startup: How Today's Entrepreneurs Use Continuous Innovation to Create Radically Successful Businesses’, completed with the more traditional PM activities of Scope, Time, and Cost of a project with their related tools.
The results indicated that traditional PM is still an unused subject in the creation of a startup, but it is taken into consideration at a later stage in the venture.
