publicações produzidas no ecossistema online. O Crowdfunding, enquanto modelo
Us ou Catarse - destinadas
After two decades of journalism's migration to the web, the process is far from being completed and media hasn't yet found a sustainable business model. Strategies to achieve revenue have proved fragile and unable to promote the evolution of the journalistic exercise. The payment to access online content is a reality that is far from being accepted by the public, continuing the free access of information to be the major attraction both for the readers and advertisers. It is necessary to study a new business model that allows the sustainability of the media to attract and fidelize readers and encourages the purchase of publications produced in the online ecosystem. The Crowdfunding, as native web model, which is a new way to raise funds through the crowd, is the central subject matter of the work in progress. The aim is to understand how the new model, as an alternative to traditional one, can be applied to journalism and to what extent can be considered a solution to the crisis facing the sector. It aims to bring to debate the peculiarities of the crowdfunding and to ascertain the acceptance of readers to this new form of financing. Starting from the operating of selected platforms such as Spot. Us or Catarse - intended for exclusive financing of journalistic projects through Crowdfunding - we will try to discover if there is room for this new business model in Portuguese journalism.
