Supply chain management, and procurement practices profoundly impact the success of
construction projects. This is especially true to the Engineering, Procurement and Construction
(EPC) industry. EPCs often encounter problems such as cost overruns, schedule overruns, delay
in material supply and loss of productivity. This study explores standardization opportunities
to combat these issues. It outlines barriers hindering standardization in EPC procurement and
offers strategies for implementation. The main contribution of this paper is the provision of
comprehensive strategies for EPC companies implementing standardization procurement
practices.
