O presente trabalho procura analisar a relação entre as obras produzidas por Rui Sanches
durante o seu período de formação em Londres, no Goldsmiths’ College, entre os anos de 1977
e 1980, e a sua obra posterior, nomeadamente aquela produzida durante os anos de 1980. Para
o efeito, foram selecionadas seis obras realizadas em contexto académico, a partir das quais é
possível identificar linhas de investigação desenvolvidas na sua obra posterior. Pretende-se
assim refletir sobre a importância do contexto de formação e qual a sua relevância para o corpo
da obra do artista.
This paper seeks to analyze the relationship between the works produced by Rui Sanches during his training period in London, at Goldsmiths' College, between 1977 and 1980, and his later, more mature work, namely that produced during the 1980s. To this end, six works made in an academic context were selected, from which it is possible to identify lines of investigation developed in his later work. The aim is to reflect on the importance of the training context and its relevance to the artist's body of work.
