This study assesses the Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE) for floating offshore wind
(FOW) installations along the western coast of Portugal, focusing on the proposed areas
within the ”Plano de Alocac¸ao de Energias Renov ˜ aveis (PAER)”. Key findings indicate ´
that the northern regions present lower LCOE values, due to better wind resources and
favourable site conditions. The study also highlights how variables like the costs of capital
and adequate project development timeline of the total capacity goal can significantly affect
the overall LCOE. Moreover, the potential external effects are also discussed to assess the
social dimension. The potential for investment retention and industrialisation development
is also addressed.
