Resumo(s)
This thesis aims to identify how European energy companies that accept biodiversity
regulations overcome the lack of guidance on implementation. To uncover the implementation
obstacles regarding the new biodiversity regulations faced by European energy companies, I
conducted a multiple case study of seven companies, I found that companies adopt different
strategic approaches to overcoming implementation challenges namely (1) internal strategic
alignment of biodiversity considerations with the rest of the firm, (2) collaborative efforts and
partnerships to address knowledge gaps, and (3) influencing external market and financial
dynamics. The insights are valuable for companies and policymakers alike for successful policy
implementation.
