As empresas apre-
brainstorming e
observação direta) e ferramentas analíticas do
Lean (
gemba walk, A3, 5S e trabalho padroni-
zado).
layout e a
criação de um procedimento de impressão 3D. Durante o desenvolvimento do procedimento
melhorou.
The progressive growth of the business competitiveness in the household appliances sector, the increase of the raw material's cost levels, the global technological evolution and the strict requirements of customers have necessarily led companies to put into practice methodologies that improve internal processes and, consequently, the search for a methodology which in- creases its productivity, that improves the quality of its products and that boosts its speed of response to the demands of customers and of the market. Companies have a pressing need to improve internal processes, aiming at efficiency, which includes the reduction of costs and waste. The household appliance company Eugster & Frismag, as well as other companies in this same business area, seek to implement the Lean philosophy and some innovative techniques, both in the design phase as in the production process. In this context, the objective of this study aimed, precisely, at the implementation of the Lean philosophy combined with the 3D printing technology in the mentioned company. This study relied on the use of some Lean analytical tools (gemba walk, A3, 5S and standardized work) and on some other support tools (3C's reports, brainstorming and direct observation). Some betterment suggestions were developed, such as, an auxiliary tool for the assembly of the engines, the relocation of the 3D printing area, as well as the enhancement of its layout and the creation of a 3D printing procedure. During the development of the procedure, there was still room for improvement in the manu- facturing process of the components, specifically, the improvement in the orientation of the part, along with the upturns in the choice of resin and a reduction in the cleaning time, among others. The implementation of the suggested improvements resulted in a reduction in the waiting time, stocks, the movements and the defective products (from 30% to 10%). There were also the improvements achieved in an auxiliary tool to assembly coffee machines, which saved about 900 €. Finally, it's also important to mention a strong enhancement what the appearance of the printed parts, as well as, their mechanical strength is concerned.
