This thesis addresses a challenge proposed by InterContinental Lisbon Hotel to enhance
its human resources practices, by delving into the vital role of Internal Communication
(IC) strategies in managing generational diversity within organisations, particularly
within the hospitality industry. Through a comprehensive analysis integrating theoretical
frameworks and survey findings, the research highlights the evolving landscape of
workplace communication, notably in response to events like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Findings reveal the importance of customising IC approaches to meet the unique
preferences and needs of different generations, advocating for proactive adaptation of IC
strategies to enhance job satisfaction and gain a competitive advantage in dynamic market
environments. Ultimately, the study aims to provide effective solutions not only for
InterContinental Lisbon but also for other organisations within the hotel industry.
