The aim of this work project is to assess the effectiveness that the Homegrown Player
Rule had on men’s Portuguese Futsal, more specifically the study of the competitive balance of
the league. This study employs a quantitative approach, analysing league data to determine the
rule's impact on team performance and league competitiveness. Key variables such as match
outcomes, league standings, and team compositions are examined. The research aims to
ascertain if the rule has promoted a more evenly matched league and positively influenced the
development of domestic talent, vital for the sport's growth in Portugal.
