This study examines the differences between Gen Z and Older Generations (Baby Boomer
and Gen X) in terms of their interpersonal and intrapersonal leadership competencies and
their expectations of these competencies. Using a quantitative research approach with 122
participants, hypotheses regarding intergenerational expectations and levels of leadership
competencies were tested. Contrary to expectations, no significant generational differences
were found between Gen Z and Older Generations. Consequently, a cross-generational
leadership competency model was developed and validated through expert interviews.
Implementation strategies along the Employee Journey were proposed, aiming to enhance
the Employee Experience across different generations.
