do património.
The research focuses on collaboration with a local community within the scope of the European project T-Factor, which aims to study urban regeneration based on cultural and social elements through tem- porary uses. The pilot project includes the development of a community museum to preserve local mem- ories, highlighting the importance of community participation in heritage management and preservation. The community under study in this research is Laboratório de Memórias, an initiative open to the local population, held monthly at the cultural space in Trafaria. The primary objective of this "lab" is to retrieve and preserve memories related to people and the local area through the sharing of stories and images. Since its inception in 2014, this initiative has gathered a significant amount of memories, although they had not yet been studied or worked on. Our collaboration with the Memory Lab involved studying these recorded memories, participating in monthly meetings, and other initiatives for documenting Trafaria's heritage, such as individual interviews and field visits. These activities allowed for a deeper understand- ing and knowledge of the history and culture of the local community. The practical case enabled the exploration of participatory and decentralized approaches in heritage management and preservation, which can contribute to the creation of more diverse and inclusive nar- ratives, providing an alternative to the Authorized Heritage Discourse conducted exclusively by external experts. In this work, the intersection between Critical Museology, Critical Heritage Studies, and some theoretical tools of "critical conservation" constituted analytical lenses that allowed for the observation and problematization of the relationship between heritage preservation practices and theories, consid- ering their social, cultural, and political dimensions. By recognizing heritage as a community resource and an agent of social transformation, the aim is to simultaneously promote greater awareness of this heritage and expand social participation in the preservation and appreciation of diverse cultural expres- sions.
