Academic literature on the subject of company valuation focuses predominantly on large,
international and listed companies. Using the example of a medium-sized company in Germany,
this paper applies and evaluates widely utilized valuation methods from the academic literature
to a private company. The analysis provides the management of the company with valuation
ranges for the enterprise value of the company. Application of the valuation methods results in
an enterprise value range between €60.80mm (million) and €67.56mm in a case based on
macroeconomic data and a valuation range between €57.60mm and €65.10mm in a case based
on management assumptions.
