In the path towards an inclusive society, the Education System plays a key role, following the
premise that if teachers are empowered to address the heterogeneous needs of different students,
these may receive support that matches their needs, preparing them for a self-sufficient future.
Thus, the following research evaluates Special Needs Students and teachers’ perspectives, to
identify the existing gap between the two groups and how to mitigate it. After gathering current
best practices, and concluding that there is lack of regular teachers’ qualification in this area, a
solution consisting in taking a related course was proposed.
