Resumo(s)
Cloud computing has revolutionized the IT industry by offering customers computing services
that can be allocated on-demand. Although countless enterprises have migrated their services
to the cloud, this migration comes with its own set of challenges and financial implications.
This thesis compares the cost of on-premises and cloud-based solutions for applications that
experience variable user traffic. These applications can benefit from the on-demand resource
allocation offered by the cloud. We consider a content streaming application and apply an
established data center cost model alongside the official Google Cloud Platform calculator to
calculate the cost of ownership of both solutions. Finally, we explore the potential financial
benefits and considerations associated with cloud computing, contributing to the understanding
of how cloud adoption can impact an organization's financials.
