Resumo(s)
Significant changes are needed in the automotive industry on the journey to climate neutrality
by 2050. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to identify the barriers to the transition from
the linear economy to the circular economy within the EU automotive manufacturing industry.
Based on eight interviews, the biggest hurdles of the involved companies were elaborated on
and then compared with existing literature. Seven barriers were identified and classified
according to their importance and the number of mentions within the interviews. The results of
this work support existing companies in their transition process as they provide insights into
the most important transitioning factors. In addition, this work provides a basis for further
research.
