Resumo(s)
By analysing panel data for 11 countries over 46 years, the gender effects of mortality rates,
fertility rates, and life expectancies on the economic growth of two economically opposed
groups of countries is assessed. The results concluded that the African countries studied are
stuck in a trap and must adopt unique and country-specific solutions to fix the problems in
their economies. Conclusiveness of the results is granted by Granger tests for the issue of
causality prevalent amongst the variables used.
