Coleções de moda com traje histórico apresentam uma diversidade imensa de tipologias, sendo
uma árdua tarefa a apreensão de conhecimento referentes a casos individuais de exemplares muito dis-
tintos. Devido ao carácter compósito da maioria do traje histórico a obtenção de metodologias de con-
servação e restauro é difícil. Existem, no entanto, guias pelas quais nos podemos orientar para chegar a
propostas finais, tendo em mente a individualidade de cada peça.
Os espartilhos, tema de estudo do presente trabalho, não diferem desta regra. No presente relatório
de estágio efetuou-se o estudo da contextualização histórica, da identificação, da descrição e da carac-
terização material e técnica das peças estudadas com vista a propostas de intervenção adequadas e per-
sonalizadas conforme as necessidades individuais das peças. Realizou-se a identificação das alterações
presentes nos quatro espartilhos, efetuando-se uma descrição detalhada do seu estado de conservação.
Foram também realizadas parte das intervenções propostas.
Neste trabalho são também apresentadas propostas de conservação preventiva e de acondiciona-
mento em reserva e exposição, assim como, uma proposta para a realização de transporte dos espartilhos.
Fashion collections with historical clothing encompass a vast diversity of typologies, making it a challenging task to grasp knowledge related to individual cases of very distinct copies. Due to the com- posite nature of most historical costumes, obtaining conservation and restoration methodologies is dif- ficult. However, there are guidelines that can be followed to arrive at final proposals, taking into account the uniqueness of each piece. Corsets, the subject of study in this work, do not differ from this rule. In this internship report, a study of historical context, identification, description, and material and technical characterization of the pieces under study was carried out with a view to suitable and personalized intervention proposals ac- cording to the individual needs of the pieces. The degradations present in the four corsets were identi- fied, and a detailed description of their conservation status was provided. Some of the proposed inter- ventions were also carried out. This work also presents proposals for preventive conservation and storage, for both storage and display purposes, as well as a proposal for the transportation of the corsets.
