It's not everyone who remembers the eight times table or the definition of a map. But there will certainly be more people who multiply their salary by the goods they want to buy and who use a GPS when they don't know the routes. Few will be those who can classify sentences when they are talking, or those who can remember the treble clef when they are listening to music. Specialists are not formed during compulsory schooling, but essential foundations are laid down which we can later use to respond to the challenges that life throws at us. Constant information or disinformation leads people to devalue school, science and learning. Digital has many advantages, but how many of us will continue, for example, to buy the newspaper and cut out the most important bits of information? The work presented here appeals to writing and reading. This is something that is almost universal in Portugal today, and which was rare in the last century. Education in Portuguese society is increasingly dominant, but mistakes persist: "“À muito tempo que não vinha á escola”". Nowadays, everyone has an automatic corrector on their cell phone that gives them three options for words by entering just one letter, but there is still a lack of knowledge about the language itself. The school, with all its flaws, will continue to be the most valid source of information, without having to continually adapt to society. Learning conditions are better than ever, there are more and more resources to work with in the classroom, but the motivation of the target audience is decisive for the development of learning. Creating learning situations based on the relationship between Geography and Poetry was the challenge I set myself as part of my Supervised Teaching Practice, precisely because I believe that students should develop critical analysis of information, transforming it into knowledge.
