This paper draws from a 2018 opinion poll, Vozes do Povo, to lead an incursion into
the intricate context of gender equality and women's political participation in Guinea-Bissau.
The analysis reveals that religious affiliation significantly influences women's political
participation, because, while the influence of Christianity appears to be limited, Islam and
Animism exhibit negative associations with various aspects of political engagement.
