Este trabalho pretende analisar as perspetivas de Gilberto Freyre, Roger Bastide e Florestan Fernandes sobre as relações raciais e como se posicionavam face ao preconceito de cor no Brasil, nas décadas de 30 a 50 do século XX, tendo como base duas obras fundamentais, Casa-grande & senzala, de Freyre, e Brancos e Negros em São Paulo, de Bastide e Fernandes. Depois de percorrer a trajetória de cada um deles e de analisar
exaustivamente as obras referidas, procura-se entender como os três autores interagiam entre si, se existiam disputas ou convergências, em que espaços se estabeleceram, e finalmente que ideias ganharam terreno e quais as que perderam. Antes das considerações finais, são visitados autores do século XXI, para aferir da sua visão sobre os intelectuais estudados, nos temas em discussão, e subsequentemente, das novas perspetivas e eventuais contributos trazidos por esta dissertação.
This work aims to analyze the perspectives of Gilberto Freyre, Roger Bastide and Florestan Fernandes about racial relations and how they positioned themselves in the face of prejudice of color in Brazil, in the 30s to 50s of the 20th century, based on two fundamental works, Casa-grande & senzala, by Freyre, and Brancos e Negros em São Paulo, by Bastide and Fernandes. After going through the trajectory of each of them and analyzing exhaustively the works mentioned, we seek to understand how the three authors interacted between themselves, whether there were disputes or convergences, in which spaces they were established, and finally which ideas gained ground and which ones lost. Before the final considerations, authors of the 21st century were visited, to assess their vision of the intellectuals studied, in the themes under discussion, and subsequently, new perspectives and possible contributions brought by this dissertation.
