Cities, sometimes referred to as dystopian and mercantilized spaces where individualism and competition are prevalent , are the scene of phenomena resulting from urbanization processes that affect the territories that make them up in very different ways. At the same time, the way in which individuals organize and build their social lives varies according to the space to w hich they allocate the most varied spheres of human life, such as work, residential areas and leisure time. In 2021, in my city, in a neighborhood that is not my own, I met the Roots Association. The Association originated in 2019, in an attempt by a resid ent of that neighborhood to revive the feelings of mutual support and solidarity that were so valued in the community of his original, pre relocation neighborhood. Four years on, the mission of supporting the community is still the same, but now it has und ergone several changes . This is the journey I propose to tell you about, resulting from my fieldwork and my experience as a member of the Association, focusing on three points of analysis: the Association's strategy between informal and formal action; the group's internal organization based on an ideology shared by the members; the space the Association occupies in the neighborhood (local) and in the community (interpersonal relations).
