This investigation aimsto assess the business potential of smart contracts in Portugal's
insurance industry. Employing an inductive mixed-methods approach, it involves qualitative
semi-structured interviews with industry stakeholders and a literature review to uncover the
benefits and challenges of smart contract usage. The results enhance insights into smart contract
adoption, benefiting insurance firms, policymakers, and researchers in developing effective
integration strategies and shaping future industry advancements
