Desde sempre, a diplomacia representou o instrumento fundamental para o estabelecimento de relações positivas entre diferentes povos e Estados. Hoje em dia, conjugando-se com outros âmbitos importantes como a cultura, elemento essencial do soft power, a diplomacia ainda mantém esse papel e determina a estreita ligação existente entre a maioria dos vários Estados do mundo contemporâneo. Este pressuposto, juntamente à configuração hodierna do Peru, resultante de uma longa história e da sua riqueza cultural, define as relações bilaterais entre o Peru e Portugal no século XXI. Nisto, a Embaixada do Peru em Portugal detém um papel crucial, sendo a instituição que permite a cooperação com o país europeu e a sua sociedade. A Secção Consular da Embaixada do Peru em Portugal foi o fulcro do estágio curricular, que incidiu sobre os procedimentos consulares requeridos pela comunidade peruana residente e o seu apoio, assim como a promoção e proteção da cultura peruana e do seu património em Portugal.
Diplomacy has always been the fundamental instrument for establishing positive relations between different peoples and states. Today, in conjunction with other important areas such as culture, an essential element of soft power, diplomacy still maintains this role and determines the close relationship between most of the various states in the contemporary world. This assumption, together with Peru's current configuration, resulting from a long history and its cultural richness, defines the bilateral relations between Peru and Portugal in the 21st century. In this, the Peruvian Embassy in Portugal plays a crucial role, being the institution that enables cooperation with the European country and its society. The Consular Section of the Peruvian Embassy in Portugal was the main focus of the curricular internship, which focused on the consular procedures required by the resident Peruvian community and their support, as well as the promotion and protection of Peruvian culture and heritage in Portugal.
