This dissertation aims to investigate the scientific landscape of gender and music studies within the Brazilian academy from 2000 to 2020. To achieve this objective, I first identified prominent journals published on the CAPES platform during the period in question to establish the analytical corpus for this research. I then examined the prevailing theoretical frameworks in these articles, situating them within the international state of the art and exploring pertinent topics such as the role of women in artistic contexts, the relationship between feminist movements and academia, and changes to different conceptual models and epistemologies. I conducted semi-structured interviews with selected authors whose work was part of the corpus to enrich my analysis. Specifically, this research addresses the following questions: What transformations have occurred regarding gender perspectives in musical and academic practices developed by women? How do the themes addressed relate to the political contingencies that Brazil has experienced over the last twenty years? What are the dominant theoretical frameworks, and how do they align with the international state of the art on this subject? What is the profile of researchers who study these topics?
