In January 2020, the coronavirus COVID-19 spread from China to twenty other countries, and
this outbreak was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Since then,
COVID-19 has turned the world upside down, with more than 7 million deaths reported, causing
a harsh economic disturbance, disrupting travel and trade, closing businesses, and forcing
millions into poverty. Being aviation the most affected industry, SATA, a small airline company from the Azores
Archipelago in a critical financial situation, has a new Board of Directors led by the economist
Luís Rodrigues to define a new strategy and save it from bankruptcy.
