O presente Relatório de Estágio divide-se em três partes: numa primeira fase, apresenta a instituição de acolhimento e a metodologia de trabalho da mesma; numa segunda fase, descreve as atividades nela desenvolvidas e identifica as competências que o tradutor deve possuir, de um modo geral e em particular no caso do tradutor que opera na área jurídica; e, numa terceira fase, que corresponde ao tópico eleito para uma análise mais aprofundada, caracteriza e exemplifica os diferentes problemas da tradução de convenções, como as idiossincrasias da linguagem jurídica, os false friends e a variação terminológica entre instituições, em articulação com os trabalhos práticos realizados ao longo do estágio.
Firstly, this Report aims to present the host institution and its work methodology; then, it sets out to describe the activities undertaken throughout the traineeship and the skills that translators must have, both in a general sense and with special attention to legal translators; and lastly, it seeks to characterise and exemplify various problems related to the translation of conventions, such as the idiosyncrasies of the legal language, false friends and the variation of terminology between institutions, which corresponds to the theme chosen for a more in-depth analysis, being directly related to the practical work conducted throughout the traineeship.
