A presente investigação analisa como a liberdade de imprensa é abordada como temática jornalística. Cada vez mais, a liberdade de imprensa tem-se tornado uma questão influenciada pelas diferenças políticas não lineares que marcam o globo, acompanhando a complexidade geopolítica e tecnológica da sociedade. Por meio da análise de conteúdo de 163 peças, ao longo de sete meses, demonstrou-se que a liberdade de imprensa não é um dos focos temáticos do jornalismo, dado o nível de cobertura baixo ou mesmo insignificante para o jornal PÚBLICO. Dessa forma, a investigação demonstrou que, apesar de ser considerada um direito fundamental para a sociedade portuguesa, não há uma correlação desta importância na cobertura da liberdade de imprensa, uma vez que apenas uma das questões relacionadas com a temática é valorizada.
This research examines how press freedom is addressed as a theme of journalistic work. Increasingly, freedom of the press has become an issue influenced by non-linear political differences that mark the globe, accompanying the current geopolitical and technological complexity of society. Through a content analysis of 163 pieces, over seven months, it was shown that press freedom is not one of the thematic focuses of journalism, given the low level of coverage for the newspaper PÚBLICO. Thus, the research proved that despite being considered a fundamental right for Portuguese society, there is no correlation of this importance in the coverage of press freedom, since only one of the issues related to the theme is emphasized.
