The main purpose of this research is to understand the formative and educational dimension of cinema as a producer of social criticism using the 16th edition of the LEFFEST - Lisbon & Sintra Film Festival and the participation of the American activist and philosopher Angela Davis and scholar Gina Dent as our case study. In the light of concepts such as Representation, Media Representation, Social Representation, Framing and Intersectionality, we conducted interviews with a group considered to be of reference, consisting of seven personalities selected for their connection to the thematic of cinema, activism and communication. We used the qualitative analysis of the interviews to determine how can cinema contribute to the encouragement of public debate and the discussion of unsettling social issues in Portugal, reflection of the emerging national campaign for human rights, led mainly by racialized groups. With this study, the theoretical knowledge acquired throughout the academic training was applied, complementing it, and confronting it with the work reality through observation, analysis, and pratical execution during the curricular internship period at Leopardo Filmes.
