This Internship Report’s main focus is a case study around a communications and heritage management company called SPIRA – Revitalização Patrimonial. We aim to provide an answer to the following research question: “What is the role of private companies in heritage communication in Portugal?” To this end, the author of this Report enrolled in an 800-hour long Internship at the company, between September 19 of 2022 to February 17 of 2023. During this period, the author’s main tasks consisted of writing online posts for the Património.pt project, creation of a daily newsletter, offer writing support to other SPIRA projects, as well as event coverage. To better understand the efficacy of SPIRA’s online communication, we created both a statistical and a SWOT analysis relating to the Património.pt project’s online posts. We also created a macroenvironmental analysis to situate the company’s socio-economic context, with the aim of understanding how the company is affected by said context, as well as the challenges it faces moving forward. We also study SPIRA’s impact in the Portuguese heritage sector, analysing its stakeholders and how they benefit from the company’s activities. Lastly, we analyse SPIRA’s role as an integral part of the information and research infrastructure, according to Schuster’s model created in 2015.
