The following report is the result of an 800 hour internship at the National Music Museum, in Lisbon, between the months of November 2022 and June 2023. During this period, I developed a series of new museological skills, carried out several tasks in the c ontext of the collection, and musicological research work, with this journey culminating in the planning of an exhibition related to the contributions, made by women, to the portuguese music scene in agreement with the Director of the Museum, Doctor Edward Ayres de Abreu. Some of the tasks developed during the internship period involved working with primary documentary references, cataloging and scanning monographs, packaging documentary pieces, optimizing space and processing information. All these activities, together wit h my support in planning an exhibition designed specifically for the MNM, were vital for the development of my professional and academic experience. This report not only served to present the skills acquired in the context of the internship, but also allowed me to deepen my knowledge of gender issues applied to music, such as access to education and the job market. These research’s, together with the n ew skills acquired, was essential in planning the exhibition “Women in portuguese musical life between the 19th and 20th centuries” and in the creation of an exhibition catalogue.
