Pelas características próprias do
This dissertation aims to analyse how the LGBTQ+ community has been represented in the trailers of entertainment series of the 5 main streaming platforms globally (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max and Hulu), during the last 5 years, between 2018 and 2022. In order to achieve this goal, a systematic literature review and a semiotic analysis based on Saborit's categories were carried out, in which the connection between possible stereotypes and media representations of the LGBTQ+ community was analysed. By carrying out a semiotic analysis of 10 trailers it was possible to draw conclusions regarding the role that representativity can have in the mitigation of stereotypes and in the construction of three-dimensional media representations. Media representations may have a preponderant role in the way we perspective minority communities, namely, the LGBTQ+ community. The danger of unidimensionality comes closer when these are combined with the stereotypes that are often associated with different media messages, being entertainment a key channel for its propagation. Due to the specific characteristics of the historical-social context, representativity becomes an essential mechanism in the creation of more authentic media representations.
