The valuation of a start-up is a key tool in negotiating and raising funds for
growth. The purpose of this thesis to determine the value of a start-up called MeterBoost.
MeterBoost is a Portuguese manufacturing company that assembles lithium-ion batteries
for the purpose of stationary, renewable energy storage. Both the company, its risks and
the respective market were analysed in order to build and execute valuation methods
suitable for start-ups. The theory, assumptions and results of each method are discussed.
Based on the results, a starting point for negotiations of €7.6 million was found.
