In this Master’s thesis, the process inherent in the training of TAP Air Portugal’s Engine Workshop to increase the maintenance capacity of the LEAP-1A engine to roughly triple the current capacity, three engines simultaneously, was addressed. This process is important in the current and future panorama, as more and more Airbus narrow-body aircraft (A320neo, A321neo) feature this engine as the preferred propulsion element, to the detriment of the competing Pratt Whitney PW1000G. For this proposed increase in capacity, planning was carried out for the engines’ service inputs and outputs, taking into account labor figures from the engineering team and intervention times for each of the processes. With this planning, the workspace was organized and tooling needs surveyed, divided into Short Duration and Long Duration tasks, in order to accommodate this desired capacity increase. kits of tools have been created that bring these tasks together, referring to each Major Module and Sub Module, so as to know exactly which tools are used, where and in what quantity. It was concluded that it is possible to increase the workshop’s maintenance capacity to accommodate the initial plan, without too many constraints in terms of workshop space. The numbers of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and the quantity of kits required for the operation are also accounted for and presented, and do not represent a deviation from the company’s objective for this project.
