O TikTok é uma rede social que se encontra em constante crescimento, sendo, atualmente, uma das mais populares do mundo. A divulgação científica é uma das vertentes de conteúdo que está em ascensão nessa plataforma, que é utilizada para criar, compartilhar e assistir vídeos curtos. A presente pesquisa visa analisar como o TikTok está sendo utilizado como suporte midiático para a divulgação científica e entender qual é a importância desse tipo de conteúdo dentro da plataforma. Como metodologia, será feita a revisão bibliográfica da temática, o levantamento de perfis brasileiros que fazem divulgação científica na plataforma, a análise quantitativa e qualitativa dos perfis e de seus conteúdos e entrevistas com produtores. Ao final, concluiu-se que o TikTok possui grande potencial para a divulgação científica, sendo a presença desse conteúdo dentro da plataforma importante, principalmente, para tornar a ciência mais acessível, alcançar mais pessoas, combater a desinformação, responder às dúvidas da sociedade, despertar o interesse na ciência e
valorizar o conhecimento científico e os cientistas. Somado a isso, foi constatado que o TikTok busca impulsionar a imagem de uma plataforma de conteúdos educacionais, indo além do entretenimento. Por isso, há um crescente incentivo à divulgação científica, que é abordada dentro da rede, em sua maioria, por meio de vídeos curtos (com cerca de um minuto), multimodais, com linguagem direta e roteiro bem definido.
TikTok is a social network that is constantly growing and, at the moment, one of the most popular in the world. Scientific dissemination is one of the content genres that is increasing on the platform, which is used to create, share and watch short videos. This research aims to analyze how TikTok is being used as a media support for scientific dissemination and to understand what is the importance of this type of content on the platform. The methodology is composed with the theme’s bibliographic review, the survey of Brazilian profiles with scientific dissemination contents on the platform, the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the profiles and their contents and the interviews with producers. In the end, it was concluded that TikTok has a great potential for the scientific dissemination and the presence of this content on the platform is important, mainly, to make science more accessible, to reach more people, to fight disinformation, to answer the society’s doubts, to arouse the interest in science and to value scientific knowledge and scientists. In addition, it was found that TikTok seeks to boost the image of an educational content platform, going beyond entertainment. For this reason, there is a growing incentive for scientific dissemination, which is approached on the platform, mainly, through short videos (about one minute), multimodal, with direct language and a well defined script.
