Abstract: Sociocultural norms and organizational practices have influenced the professional paths of sexual minorities. For this reason, this research examines the influence of sexual orientation on the career experiences of gay men and lesbian women. Data for this thesis were collected from academic literature and semi-structured interviews with 20 participants. The results show that society's disapproval of their sexual orientation still makes it difficult for most gay men and lesbians to reconcile their sexual identity with their personality and self. The study will help practitioners understand the realities of these minority groups and how employment protections can be implemented
