Resumo(s)
Mobile telecommunication is becoming more and more important over the years.
People use the internet for everything nowadays, for example for research, shopping
or even looking for an apartment.
Therefore, this master thesis describes the evolution of the mobile generations and then
focuses on the current and 5G. To examine the consumers' perception, a qualitative
survey was conducted as well as an expert interview to verify the findings of the survey.
The results reveal that consumers have different views on the drivers of development
of mobile telecommunication generations and view the 5G network as a useful and
necessary development. They recognize many benefits such as speed and efficiency
and have few concerns about 5G. Nevertheless, it was found that consumers do not feel
sufficiently informed about the technology. Furthermore, it was found that more
features bandwidth and more interconnectivity are expected in a future generation.
The major limitations 5G still faces are data security and full deployment everywhere.
Concluding, it can be concluded that the network offers advantages for all parties
involves but still faces challenges to overcome. It should be seen as a long-term
investment which develops evermore the longer it is deployed.
When looking towards the future, it can be said that the challenges that 5G still faces
are to be addressed in new generations in the future to allow a better performance, a
more dynamic environment as well as the use of new applications.
