This work project aims to evaluate how competition in the telecommunications industry
impacts the value of football broadcasting rights, focusing on the Portuguese context,
characterized by the absence of competition during the last decades and the challenges
that collective sale will mean. For this purpose, the project utilizes sports management
literature to assess the factors driving the market, while benchmarking the evolution that
occurred in other top European leagues as well as identifying specific future trends,
culminating in a set of recommendations to achieve the strategic goals of the
implementation of a collective sale mechanism in the Portuguese football.
