This internship report provides an in
depth analysis of the integration of InsurTech within the
European insurance distribution framework. It examines the challenges and opportunities
associated with InsurTech and proposes a principle of proportionality based approach to
regulation. The report is structured into three chapters, starting with an overview of the
regulatory landscape and the positive impacts of InsurTech , along with challenges such as data
protection and regulatory harmonization. The second chapter focuses on the principle of
proportionality and argues for its application in InsurTech regulation. It discusses the need for
technology agnostic regulations and explores the benefits and risks of a new regulatory
framework tailored for InsurTech The third chapter adopts a cross sectoral perspective,
highlighting the interconnected nature of InsurTech with finance, technology, and data privacy.
It emphasizes collaboration and innovation as key factors in addressing regulatory challenges.
ThThis internship report concludes by advocating for a proportionality based approach to
InsurTech regulation, which balances objectives and rights while fostering innovation and
ensuring consumer protection.
