A elaboração do presente relatório integra-se no âmbito do estágio curricular de 400 horas que perfaz a componente não-letiva do Mestrado em Tradução da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. O estágio teve lugar no Núcleo de Tradução da Assembleia da República. A tradução é uma parte importante da comunicação. Esta tem um papel fundamental quando se desenvolve em instituições públicas que lidam com o plano internacional e são responsáveis por importantes decisões que acarretam consequências para as populações que ajudam a governar. A Assembleia da República é uma dessas instituições, dado ser um dos órgãos de soberania do país. O propósito da tradução institucional da Assembleia da República é produzir textos que sejam fiéis ao formato do texto original. Deste modo, pretende-se salientar a importância da clareza dessa comunicação, quer em português quer em inglês, mantendo o foco no Código de Redação Interinstitucional por ser o guia para coerência terminológica e respeito das regras de cada língua.
This report is a result of the 400-hour curricular internship that make up the nonacademic component of the Masters in Translation of the School of Social Sciences and and Humanities of the NOVA University of Lisbon. The internship took place at the translation department of the Assembleia da República (Portuguese Parliament). Translation is an important part of communication. Communication plays a crucial role in public institutions that interact in international domains and are responsible for important decisions with consequences to the populations they help govern. The Assembleia da República is one of those institutions, as it is one of the four sovereign bodies in Portugal. The institutional translation practised at the Assembleia da República aims to produce texts which are true to the format of the source texts. Thus, the purpose of this report is to highlight the importance of clear communication, in English and in Portuguese, keeping the Interinstitutional Style Guide at the centre for being the guide to terminological harmony and respect for the rules of each language
