As mulheres no movimento estudantil da década de 70

O movimento estudantil de inícios da década de 70 contou com a participação de várias mulheres que se empenharam ativamente na alteração da situação política, económica e social do país, numa altura em que a adoção de atitudes, comportamentos e práticas de contestação ao regime acarretavam consequências graves e implicavam grandes sacrifícios dos seus participantes. Partindo da recolha e análise de doze testemunhos inéditos, a presente dissertação de mestrado procura estudar a presença e participação das mulheres no movimento estudantil lisboeta de inícios da década de 70 em duas Faculdades da Universidade de Lisboa: a Faculdade de Direito e a Faculdade de Ciências. Particular atenção será dada às trajetórias de vida destas mulheres e aos processos de consciencialização política e social, politização, envolvimento político e, num último momento, de desmobilização. Veremos como foi no terreno estudantil ou a partir deste que estas mulheres desenvolveram a sua atividade política e social, mobilizando-se para as mais diversas causas e lutas: pela democratização do ensino, pelo fim de um regime autoritário, pela liberdade, e pelo fim da guerra colonial. As estudantes intervinham de diferentes formas no movimento estudantil e o seu percurso no ativismo era feito de forma gradual e cumulativa. Estas podiam integrar órgãos legais (como as delegações de curso e as Associações de Estudantes), estruturas semiclandestinas (cooperativas e comissões) e organizações clandestinas, de cariz político. Estas mulheres não escaparam à atitude repressiva que o regime lançava a todos aqueles que o ameaçavam e, por isso, o seu envolvimento na mobilização estudantil teve consequências graves nas suas trajetórias e percursos de vida (tanto a nível pessoal, académico e profissional). Resgatando as suas memórias e dando visibilidade à sua participação na vida social e política do país, este estudo procura, acima de tudo, integrar estas mulheres no espaço público e na memória coletiva do movimento estudantil.
The student movement of the early 1970s counted with the participation of several women who were actively committed to changing the political, economic, and social situation of the country, at a time when the adoption of attitudes, behaviours, and practices of opposition to the regime had serious consequences and implied great sacrifices on the part of its participants. Based on the collection and analysis of twelve unpublished testimonies, this master's thesis seeks to study the presence and participation of women in the Lisbon student movement in the early 1970s in two Faculties of the University of Lisbon: the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Sciences. Particular attention will be given to the life trajectories of these women and to the processes of political and social awareness, politicization, political involvement and, ultimately, demobilization. We will see how these women developed their political and social activity in or from the student field, mobilizing themselves for the most diverse causes and struggles: for the democratization of education, for the end of an authoritarian regime, for freedom, and for the end of the colonial war. They intervened in different ways in the student movement and their path in activism was gradual and cumulative. They could take part in legal bodies (such as course delegations and Student Associations), semi-clandestine structures (cooperatives and commissions) and clandestine organizations of a political nature. These women did not escape the repressive attitude that the regime launched towards all those who threatened it and, therefore, their involvement in the student mobilization had serious consequences on their trajectories and life paths (both on a personal, academic, and professional level). Rescuing their memories and giving visibility to their participation in the social and political life of the country, this study seeks, above all, to integrate these women in the public space and in the collective memory of the student movement.
