A presente dissertação centra-se na análise aos espaços megalíticos com ocupações em período romano e medieval, no distrito de Viseu. Projetos como este foram já desenvolvidos na Europa, especialmente em Espanha e na Alemanha, mas em Portugal ainda não havia sido desenvolvido um estudo conjunto destas realidades. O projeto tem assim como principal objetivo compreender a forma como os espaços megalíticos foram usados durante os períodos romano e medieval. O território em análise é a região viseense. O estudo focou-se assim numa amostra de monumentos para os quais havia menções a possíveis reutilizações ou presença de materiais destes períodos para tentar encontrar padrões de uso quer na função, localização geográfica. Ao longo deste estudo foi possível identificar-se três tipologias de reutilizações de monumentos megalíticos, sendo estas: de reutilização relacionada com atividades agro-pastoris, reutilização religiosa, e reutilização funerária.
The present dissertation focuses on the analysis of megalithic spaces with occupations in Roman and Medieval times, in the Viseu district. Projects like this have already been developed in Europe, especially in Spain and Germany, but in Portugal a joint study of these realities had not yet been developed. The project’s main goal is to understand the way megalithic spaces were used during the Roman and Medieval periods. The territory under analysis is the Viseu Region. The study thus focused on a sample of monuments for which there were mentions of possible reuses or presence of materials from these periods to try to find patterns of use either in function or geographical location. Throughout this study it was possible to identify three types of reuses of megalithic monuments, namely: reuse related to agro-pastoral activities, religious reuse, and funerary reuse.
