The present proposal for an edition of Fernando Pessoa's 35 Sonnets, published in pamphlet in 1918 by the author, which later underwent different revision campaigns, is based on the concept of an unfinished text. Revised fully in two autograph pieces of evidence that were in the author’s possession, they present several readings that the editor, according to criteria that are not only technical and of a genetic and philological nature, but also interpretative and hermeneutic, considers, giving special relevance to the variants left open, with the aim of establishing a text that respects a presumed authorial intention that was never materialised. The proposed edition is accompanied by a critical analysis of the sonnets in its various aspects, referring to Pessoa's writing in English and its reception, the issues raised by an edition based on a critical approach, the circumstances in which the booklet was written and published, and the justification for a new edition with a different approach from those existing to date.
