A Suécia é um país que se distingue pelo alto e prestigiado padrão social, pela transparência política e pelo grande apoio humanitário. Na área da política externa, a Suécia é conhecida por ter um dos períodos de paz mais longos, de mais de 200 anos, inclusive ultrapassando a Suíça, “o país neutro”. Quais as razões da excecionalidade da política externa sueca? O que difere a Suécia dos outros países para ser merecedor de um estatuto respeitável a nível da política externa? Desde a política de neutralidade à política externa feminista, este relatório aborda as diferentes políticas externas adotadas pela Suécia desde o fim da II Guerra Mundial até à atualidade, prestando especial relevância à iminente adesão à NATO. O presente relatório resulta do estágio realizado na Embaixada de Portugal em Estocolmo, e por isso, este relatório está dividido em duas partes: a descrição das atividades desenvolvidas e a apresentação e exposição da política externa sueca.
Sweden, a distinguished country renowned for its prestigious reputation and high social standards, has earned global recognition for its transparent political system and generous humanitarian support. With over 200 years of peacetime, surpassing even Switzerland, Sweden's exceptionalism is noteworthy. Its policy of neutrality, combined with its pioneering Feminist Foreign Policy, distinguishes Sweden from other countries. This report, based on my internship at the Portuguese Embassy in Stockholm, examines Sweden's foreign policies since World War II, with a focus on its imminent NATO membership. The first chapter focuses a description of the activities I engaged during the internship, offering valuable insights into the practical aspects of Swedish diplomacy. The second chapter provides an overview over Swedish Foreign Policy. Sweden's diplomatic approach and commitment to gender equality have earned it a respectable stature globally.
