This dissertation focuses on the regulations and frameworks that Uber had to go through
since it entered the market in 2011. Uber, which describes itself as a communications
platform rather than a taxi service, has grown by flouting regulations. Driver
demonstrations against the ride-hailing services, run-ins with national authorities, and
new regulations intended to limit its operations. Uber is on a collision course with
regulators in some of the places where it operates, while it is still firmly illegal in others.
But in a few regions, the company is already back in business or is actively negotiating
its return.
Recent advancements were made by the European Union in creating a framework for the
regulation of the cooperation in the economy. The research examines the impact of Uber
on the Taxi industry and the regulatory issues that it went through.
