The following internship report and its inherent practical application are a product of the supervised teaching practice (STP), carried out in the scope of the Master’s degree in Geography Teaching, in the 3 rd Cycle of Basic Education and in Secondary Education. It aims to use the documentary in the classroom as an added value to help the understanding and interpretation of geographical concepts, using conceptual schemes made by teacher and students, in order to corroborate significant learning and subsequent benefit. The main purpose of this application in a practical context, is to expose the enriching advantages of the use of documentaries associated with the composition of conceptual schemes by students with the purpose of developing skills. The teaching practice took place at Basic and Secondary School of Carcavelos, in the Municipality of Cascais, in two classes: a 12th grade class, teaching geography and an 11th grade class, in geography. The documentaries and the execution of conceptual schemes were applied in both classes. The practical application is based on a theoretical apprehension of Ausubel (2003) and Novak (1984), taking into consideration the significant learning, namely, the conception of conceptual schemes involving the documentaries and the geographic concepts apprehended in class by the students (of 12th and 11th grades), in order to prove the consolidation of their learning.
