Resumo(s)
This study aims at understanding the relationship between Brazil and Portugal with
regards to the football talent exports. To do so, two research questions — “What are the factors
that make Portugal attractive to Brazilian players?” and “What are the general characteristics
of the relationship between Brazil and Portugal with regards to football professionals,
specifically players?” — were developed. The research follows a sequential exploratory mixed
methods approach, using qualitative and quantitative analysis to generate theory. The results
show that Brazil is indeed one of the main countries that export football talents, and that
Portugal is the main destination of those transfers. Additionally, it was also possible to conclude
that this movement between both countries is strengthen by the similarities they share (e.g.,
culture and language) and the strong presence of the Brazilian community in the European
country.
