A Tradução Audiovisual registou um crescimento significativo nos últimos anos, o que motivou o estudo da área e das ramificações da mesma, com especial atenção para a legendagem. Considerada um tipo de tradução restringida, devido às normas e convenções de cariz universal que a regem, a prática da legendagem abrange aspetos técnicos, textuais e linguísticos. Estas normas e convenções, denominadas parâmetros de legendagem, afetam o ritmo e a fluidez das legendas e dos conteúdos audiovisuais onde se inserem. O estudo desses mesmos parâmetros constitui o tema deste relatório, que visa sistematizá-los através de uma divisão entre parâmetros específicos do cliente e parâmetros gerais. A esta sistematização segue-se uma análise dos projetos de tradução realizados no âmbito do estágio curricular e das problemáticas da legendagem diretamente relacionadas com a parametrização.
Audiovisual translation has noticed a significant development over the last few years, which has prompted further study of the subject and its ramifications, with special attention to subtitling. Seen as a type of constrained translation, due to the universal norms and conventions that governs it, subtitling practice encompasses technical, textual, and linguistic aspects. These norms and conventions, known as subtitling parameters, have an effect on the rhythm and the fluidity of the subtitles and the audiovisual content for which they are used. This report aims to study those parameters and systematize them by separating client-specific parameters and universal parameters. This systematization is then followed by a study of the translation projects conducted during the curricular internship and by an analysis of translation problems directly related to the parameters.
