Through the study of the newsreels (Noticieros) produced by the Instituto Cubano del Arte y Indústria Cinematográfico, this work analyzes the editions that approached the colonial war and the struggle for the independence of Guinea-Bissau against the Portuguese army (1961-1974). Therefore, this research argues that: the film material provides an unusual point of view, in relation to the official discourse of the time; the film's particularities make it possible to analyze the construction of political discourse in both Cuba and Guinea, and the relationships between them; the study of images interrogates the production of knowledge and the construction of identity in an anti-colonial, post-colonial and decolonial sense.
